Color Shift from Photographic Source
Stretching your idea of color theory and composition:
The point of the following exercise is for the beginning or intermediate student to learn how to mix specific colors, discerning value and temperature of each hue. By repeating a design and applying a different color scheme to each section, the student learns to discern varying tones and color relationships that create harmony.

FINAL ASSIGNMENT STEPS:
1) Take a photo from your 30-day photo challenge and change it to black and white. Then set the contrast to high.

FINAL ASSIGNMENT STEPS:
1) Take a photo from your 30-day photo challenge and change it to black and white. Then set the contrast to high.
2) Composition must include visual evidence of the following design components:
Color Harmony(created by color shift)
Color/Value
Form
Space (field of depth; fore, middle and background)
Mood
3) Enlarge the design to your painting surface. If you are significantly enlarging the design (to 14×18 or larger), you can use a graph to help you transfer the design (or use an enlarger, if you have access to one).
4) Depending on your ambition, divide the composition into 4-8 separate spaces.
(The images on this page offer several examples for splitting the space in various configurations).
5) In each section, use a different dominant hue, creating 3-5 values based on that hue creating :
Color Harmony and Mood.
6) Your painting must include a new technique of your choice, for the medium your using.
